Avocado Toast
Make my go-to avocado toast in 15 minutes. It's the perfect quick breakfast or simple snack, loaded with creamy avocado and a kick of red pepper.
Ingredients
- 8 slices sourdough bread
- 2 medium ripe avocados
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 4 sprigs fresh cilantro
Instructions
- Place 8 slices sourdough bread in a toaster or under a broiler. Toast until golden brown and slightly crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side if broiling.
- While the bread is toasting, prepare the avocado mash. Carefully cut 2 medium ripe avocados in half lengthwise, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
- Add 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, 0.5 teaspoon salt, 0.25 teaspoon black pepper, and 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes to the bowl with the avocado.
- Using a fork, mash the avocado mixture until it reaches your desired consistency. Some prefer it chunky, while others prefer it smoother. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
- Evenly spread the mashed avocado mixture over the 8 toasted sourdough slices. Each slice should have a generous layer.
- Garnish each avocado toast with a small sprig of fresh cilantro, red pepper flakes. Serve immediately.
