Ingredients
- 170 grams all-purpose flour
- 60 grams unsweetened cocoa powder
- 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
- 0.25 teaspoon salt
- 170 grams granulated sugar
- 115 grams unsalted butter
- 85 grams dark chocolate chips
- 60 ml milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 80 grams chopped almonds (approximately 0.75 cup)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Lightly grease and flour a 20x20 cm (8x8 inch) baking pan, or line it with parchment paper leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
- In a medium bowl, combine 170 grams all-purpose flour, 60 grams unsweetened cocoa powder, 0.5 teaspoon baking powder, and 0.25 teaspoon salt. Stir well to combine all dry ingredients.
- In a separate microwave-safe large bowl or saucepan, melt 115 grams unsalted butter. You can do this in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, or over low heat on the stovetop.
- To the melted butter, add 170 grams granulated sugar and stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- Add 85 grams dark chocolate chips to the butter and sugar mixture. Stir until the chocolate chips are fully melted and the mixture is well combined. If needed, you can briefly return it to low heat or microwave for a few seconds to fully melt the chocolate.
- Stir in 60 ml milk and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract into the wet mixture until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter.
- Fold in 80 grams chopped almonds into the brownie batter.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs, but not wet batter. Do not overbake, as this will make the brownies dry.
- Remove the pan from the oven and let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before lifting them out and cutting them into squares.
