Ingredients

  • 400 grams paneer
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 0.75 teaspoon garam masala
  • 0.5 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon dried mango powder (amchur)
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 0.5 medium red onion
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 0.5 medium cucumber
  • 0.25 cup fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

Instructions

  1. Cut 400 grams paneer into 1.5 cm cubes. In a medium bowl, add the paneer cubes and sprinkle 2 tablespoons cornstarch over them. Gently toss to coat all the paneer pieces evenly.
  2. In a small bowl, combine 0.75 teaspoon garam masala, 0.5 teaspoon cumin powder, 0.5 teaspoon coriander powder, 0.25 teaspoon turmeric powder, 0.5 teaspoon red chili powder, 0.25 teaspoon dried mango powder (amchur), 0.5 teaspoon salt, and 0.25 teaspoon black pepper. Mix well to create the spice blend.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large non-stick pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the coated paneer cubes in a single layer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until the paneer is golden brown and slightly crispy on all sides.
  4. Once the paneer is browned, sprinkle the prepared spice blend over the paneer in the pan. Gently toss the paneer to ensure it's evenly coated with the spices. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the spices are fragrant.
  5. While the paneer is cooking, prepare the toppings. Finely dice 0.5 medium red onion, 1 medium tomato, and 0.5 medium cucumber. Roughly chop 0.25 cup fresh cilantro. In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons sour cream with 1 tablespoon lime juice and a pinch of salt.
  6. Warm 8 small corn or flour tortillas according to package instructions. You can heat them in a dry skillet for about 30 seconds per side, or microwave them briefly until soft and pliable.
  7. Assemble the tacos: place a spoonful of the spiced paneer into each warm tortilla. Top with the diced red onion, tomato, cucumber, and chopped cilantro. Drizzle with the lime sour cream.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your Paneer Tacos!
