Ingredients
- 4 cups puffed rice
- 0.75 cup finely chopped red onion
- 0.75 cup finely chopped tomato
- 0.5 cup finely chopped boiled potato
- 0.5 cup finely chopped cucumber
- 0.25 cup unsalted roasted peanuts
- 0.25 cup finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 4 tablespoons tamarind chutney
- 2 tablespoons green chutney
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon chaat masala
- 0.5 teaspoon red chili powder
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 cup sev
- 0.25 cup crushed whole wheat puris or papdi
Instructions
- Wash and finely chop 0.75 cup red onion, 0.75 cup tomato, and 0.5 cup cucumber. Place them in a large mixing bowl.
- Wash 1 medium potato. Boil the potato in water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Peel the skin and chop into 0.5 cup small pieces. Add the chopped potato to the mixing bowl.
- Finely chop 2 green chilies and 0.25 cup fresh coriander leaves. Add them to the mixing bowl along with 0.25 cup unsalted roasted peanuts.
- To the bowl, add 4 tablespoons tamarind chutney, 2 tablespoons green chutney, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon chaat masala, 0.5 teaspoon red chili powder, and 0.5 teaspoon salt.
- Add 4 cups puffed rice to the bowl. Gently mix all the ingredients together thoroughly using a spoon or your hands, ensuring the chutneys and spices are evenly distributed.
- Just before serving, add 0.5 cup sev and 0.25 cup crushed whole wheat puris or papdi to the bhel mixture. Mix gently.
- Serve the Bhel Puri immediately in individual bowls to prevent the puffed rice from becoming soggy.
